$34 Million Contract

The US Department of Energy’s Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, N.Y., has selected general contractor E.W. Howell of Plainview, N.Y., to construct laboratory office buildings for the National Synchrotron Light Source II, an advanced storage ringlight source that will be completed in 2015. The buildings will provide 124,000 ft2 of laboratory and office space. Occupancy of the first facility is anticipated in 2012, with the balance of construction lasting through 2013. Funding for the $34 million project is from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
