QP Semiconductor Joins e2v Aerospace Unit

Acquired by e2v in 2008 and now part of e2v aerospace and defense inc., QP Semiconductor was established recently by e2v as part of the group’s expansion of resources and capabilities that focus on the US military and aerospace electronics sectors.

QP Semiconductor has served the military, aerospace and high reliability industries for over 25 years. e2v will offer QP’s US semiconductor capabilities, as well as expanded services and solutions critical to the military, aerospace and high-reliability industrial OEMs.

“Our newly expanded services and resources will allow us to deliver against a wider range of unmet needs for sustaining our mil/aero customers’ systems in ways no other supplier can,” said Jim Townsend, director of marketing for e2v’s Santa Clara semiconductor operations.

A provider of technology solutions for high performance systems, e2v’s semiconductor lifecycle management program offers a new approach to obsolescence management and to the design, manufacture and through life support of aerospace, defense and long lifecycle commercial systems; preparing for and planning against the effects of component obsolescence at points as early as the original system design process.

It results in the security of supply and avoidance of issues such as spiraling costs and counterfeit goods entering the supply chain from uncontrolled sources.

Additionally, its program works with existing platforms to review current last time buy inventory, and to manage lifetime supply and future cost for key components.
