Lumileds Exec Named Lunera CEO

Next-generation LED lighting manufacturer Lunera Lighting Inc. announced that former Hewlett Packard and Lumileds executive, Karen Owyeung, has joined the company as its new CEO.

Owyeung will bring to Lunera more than 20 years of marketing, operations and general management experience in the LED industry.

She held executive management positions in marketing and worldwide manufacturing operations at Hewlett Packard prior to becoming its general manager of the division. While there, she was the architect behind the expanded joint venture of HP’s solid-state lighting division with Philips Lighting to form Lumileds.

At Lumileds, she served on the board of directors and was named the first CEO of the expanded joint venture.

In addition, she served on the advisory board for Bridgelux, a Silicon Valley LED technology company.
