Precision Photonics Expands Boulder Plant

High power optical components and coatings manufacturer Precision Photonics Corp. (PPC) announced the expansion of its Boulder-based manufacturing facility, adding approximately 5000 sq. ft. to its current production facility.

Triggered by the continued and consistent growth at PPC over the recent years, the expansion was completed to accommodate new personnel, and new manufacturing and metrology equipment brought on in the past several months.

The new space is expected to help increase fabrication and coating capacity, as well as improve the overall flow of production processes, said PPC.

“With 2010 on track to be the best in company history, we are pleased to be in a position to invest in additional infrastructure,” said Nick Traggis, vice president. “This expansion will enable us to successful meet the growing demand for our high energy laser optics and coatings, and better serve our customers.”

To facilitate the growth and reorganization required for the expansion, PPC named Ove Lyngens as its new director of operations. With the company for over six years, Lyngnes specializes in the design and deposition of ion beam sputtered coatings for high energy laser applications. Prior to joining PPC, he served as a thin coatings manager for CVI Laser Corp.
