Nikon Instruments Begins Direct Support for Biomed Instruments

Nikon Instruments Inc. has begun direct sales and technical support for its BioScience microscopes, confocal systems and digital imaging products in New Jersey and Puerto Rico. The areas were previously served by Micron Optics.

The company began distribution to these territories on Nov. 1, 2010, following the closing of Micron’s Nikon BioScience Instruments business. The former Micron Optics territory is now directly served by Nikon.

In addition, Nikon will retain Micron’s New Jersey BioScience sales representatives to support customers’ biomedical and imaging requirements. It will provide a base of operations for the new direct sales team, regional sales administration staff and customer service personnel through its US headquarters in Melville.

“Nikon Instruments is extremely grateful for the superb service and support that Mr. Peter Burboeck, President of Micron Optics and his entire Micron team has provided over the past 20 years,” said Yoshinobu Ishikawa, president of Nikon. “This change has been carefully coordinated with Mr. Burboeck to facilitate a smooth and seamless transition for our loyal customer base. We look forward to continuing to provide the same quality of service directly from Nikon.”

Nikon Instruments develops and manufactures optical and digital imaging technology for biomedical applications.
