Opnext CEO Gilles Bouchard Resigns

Optical modules and components provider Opnext Inc. announced that Gilles Bouchard has resigned from his position as its CEO and president, as well as from his seat on the company’s board of directors.

Effective immediately, Harry Bosco, the current non-executive chairman of the board of directors, will assume the position of CEO and president on an interim basis.

The search for a more permanent successor will commence in the first half of 2011 under the supervision of the board of directors.

Before joining as chairman in April 2009, Bosco served as the company’s CEO and president since its formation in November 2000. He will continue in his role as chairman.

“Opnext has an experienced management team that will ensure the transition is seamless to our customers,” said Bosco. “We will continue to focus on serving our customers while driving the business toward profitable growth.”
