Major Achievement for Moser Baer

New Delhi, India-based Moser Baer recently added a feather on its illustrious cap when it emerged as the first ever Indian solar PV company to achieve 100 MW of installations globally under its own brand – a feat that has done the country proud! This achievement also makes Moser Baer one of the most preferred solar brands for solar farm developers.

I recall reading somewhere on the Internet that Avatar, the 2010 Hollywood blockbuster by James Cameron, had a budget Rs. 1,200 crore (approximately US $260 million). Well, if Moser Baer's recent achievement isn't enough, it also boasts an order book visibility beyond the Rs 1,200 crore mark in the next couple of years!

Now I'm not suggesting here that Moser Baer attempt an Avatar! Far from it! This number is indicative of the fact that Moser Baer is well on its way to becoming at least a $1 billion entity in the near future!

About two years ago, I was fortunate enough to write an article on the top 20 global solar photovoltaic companies with the help of iSuppli. Back then, Moser Baer was ranked 20th. Perhaps, its ranking will change when a similar study is conducted for 2010!

Now, Moser Baer's modules are specifically designed to generate optimum energy from sunlight that can withstand severe climatic vagaries over a period of 25 years. According to Ratul Puri, Moser Baer Solar Ltd. (MBSL) has also provided thin film modules toward the commissioning of India's largest solar farm to date in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India.

MBSL has several other distinctions to its name. It has already commissioned the first of its kind 1-MW thin-film solar farm in Maharashtra, as well as one of the largest residential roof-top solar PV installations in Surat, Gujarat – both in the western part of India. These modules are customized to suit the area of its implementations like residential, commercial or for industrial purposes.

MBSL has various installations around the world (Germany, Italy, India, UK, US, Japan, Slovakia, France, Australia, et al.). The solar arm of Moser Baer is currently the largest multitechnology PV manufacturer in India.

Well, that's about it from me for this year. I will be back next year with more interesting stories.

Do have a rocking 2011 everyone, and God bless!

Pradeep
