Ascent Solar Appoints New Board Member

Thin-film solar module developer Ascent Solar Technologies Inc. announced the appointment of Hans Olav Kvalvaag to its board of directors. He will replace Einar Glomnes, who resigned from the board effective Dec. 21, 2010.

Kvalvaag was designated for appointment by Norsk Hydro Produksjon AS, the company’s largest stockholder. He joined Norsk Hydro in 2006 within its New and Alternative Energy group. He is currently part of its Corporate Business Development team.

Prior to joining the company, he worked as a management consultant with McKinsey & Co. and as a lawyer at Selmer, where he primarily focused on energy, oil and gas industries.

Glomnes was promoted to vice president of European sales, and has assumed an expanded role with additional commitments within Norsk Hydro. Because of his new role, he no longer has the adequate time to devote to his board position.
