Fibernet to Boost Capacity with CIENA DWDM Systems
LONDON, Aug. 24 -- CIENA Corp. and Fibernet Group plc announced the deployment of CIENA's dense wavelength division multiplexing optical transport equipment in Fibernet's TANet UK nationwide fiber optic backbone network. The companies report that the deployment will increase the capacity of the TANet network by 40 times and facilitate the introduction of innovative new services.
The initial rollout of CIENA's equipment is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter, with TANet's first customers expected to go live in a similar timeframe. CIENA's MultiWave Sentry will increase the base capacity of our network to 100 gigabits, enabling the continued rapid creation of secure, high-bandwidth managed network services for corporate, carrier and ISP customers, said Charles McGregor, Fibernet's chief executive.
