Lumenis Ltd.

Medical laser company Lumenis Ltd. of Yokneam, Israel, and Alma Lasers Ltd. of Buffalo Grove, Ill., a provider of aesthetic devices based on light, lasers, radio frequency and ultrasound, announced the settlement of their patent suit, which had been pending in the US District Court of Chicago. Under the agreement, Lumenis has granted Alma a license to its complete patent portfolio for use with all of Alma’s products related to the aesthetic field. Alma will pay Lumenis $6.5 million for the license. The settlement does not include the lawsuits currently pending in the Israeli courts against Alma Ltd. and its founders for alleged misappropriation of trade secrets and unjust enrichment. These cases are continuing.
