LED Patent Reissued

Spectros Corp. of Portola Valley, Calif., received validation for its white LED patent during re-examination by the US Patent Office, which affirmed that Patent No. 6,711,426 for the use of white LEDs in medical spectroscopy is unique and protectable, and that certain other applications in biomedical and industrial spectroscopy devices also fall under its patent. The company markets and licenses advanced molecular sensing and imaging devices that can shed light on ischemia and cancer, as well as molecular diagnostic tools for breast and prostate cancer.
