OpGen Inc.

A commercial phase genomics and DNA analysis company, OpGen Inc. of Gaithersburg, Md., has announced that Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute of Hinxton, UK, has purchased an Argus optical mapping system to reduce the time and cost of whole genome sequence assembly. The institute’s Mapping and Archive Sequencing Div. will use the system for optical mapping of bacteria and parasites. By using an optical map as the whole genome scaffold, researchers now can identify gaps in the sequence and can target specific areas of the genome for additional sequencing.
