Bruker Daltonik GmbH

Bruker Daltonik GmbH of Bremen, Germany, and DSMZ GmbH, the German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures, in Braunschweig, have announced that they have formed a partnership for the identification and classification of microorganisms from peptide and protein profiles measured by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The partners plan to generate a database of DSMZ’s ~14,000 cultures for use in microbiological classification, clinical and diagnostic infectious disease research, environmental analysis, and assessments of food safety and water quality. DSMZ will use the company’s Clinprot BioTyper for internal quality control of strains and ongoing phylogenetic research in various microorganisms.
