Call for Congressional Fellows
The Optical Society of America (OSA) and the Materials Research Society (MRS) invite applications for the Congressional Science and Engineering Fellowship, a one-year position to begin Sept. 1, 2000. The program was established in 1995 to facilitate communication between government and the materials and optical sciences. Congressional fellows assist a congressional member or committee in the preparation of briefs, debates and speeches.
Potential fellows are expected to display a desire to apply their scientific expertise to public policy, and to have an aptitude in their research that is relevant to materials or optical science and a facility for communicating that knowledge to a nontechnical audience. Applications are due by Jan. 14, 2000. Interested candidates should contact OSA at (202) 416-1418 or MRS at (724) 779-3004, Ext. 501.
