Opsens Inc.

Opsens Inc., based in Quebec City, has announced that it will defend itself against a lawsuit filed by Acist Medical Systems Inc. of Delaware. Acist is asking for money damages and requesting that Opsens assign or abandon its US patent application No. 12/725,951 and international application No. PCT/CA2010/ 000396, and cease development and testing of its EasyWire device. Opsens believes that the claims against it, alleging improper use of Acist’s confidential information in the applications and in the EasyWire device, are without merit, and it plans to prove its case in court. Opsens is a supplier of fiber optic sensors and associated signal conditioners. The company recently completed a preclinical animal study on the EasyWire device, which is designed to measure fractional flow reserve in the evaluation of coronary lesions.
