Data Translation Reports Fourth Profitable Quarter

MARLBORO, Mass., Sept. 15 -- Data Translation Inc. announced total sales of $4,061,000 for the quarter ended August 31, 1999, an increase of approximately 3.5 percent from $3,919,000 in the comparable quarter of fiscal 1998. Net income for fiscal 1999's third quarter was $177,000 or eight cents per share, compared with a net loss of $763,000, or 36 cents per share in the same quarter of the prior fiscal year.
Total sales for the nine months ended August 31, 1999, were $11,997,000, compared with $12,910,000 for the comparable period in fiscal 1998. The net income for the first nine months of fiscal 1999 was $435,000, or 20 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $1,261,000, or 61 cents per share in the prior year.
This is the fourth straight quarter of improved earnings, said Fred Molinari, Data Translation's president and CEO. These results are paced by our PCI products in data acquisition and machine vision applications.
