LaserComm Plans New Facilityfor Fiber-Optic Components
RICHARDSON, Texas, Sept. 17 -- LaserComm Inc. is establishing a plant in Plano, Texas, to manufacture its line of dispersion management devices for the telecommunications and data communications markets. In addition to a manufacturing area, the 15,000-square-foot facility will house a lab for testing as well as research and development. Final construction has begun; the company plans to have the plant ready for inauguration in January 2000.
LaserComm expects the new facility to require the addition of more than 50 employees in a variety of jobs ranging from manufacturing and quality assurance to product and customer support. The establishment of the manufacturing plant marks a new era for LaserComm, said Eduardo Shoval, company chairman and CEO. This facility will supply the telecom industry with high-quality optic components that cater to the industry's most urgent requirements.
