Oclaro Joins EPIC Board

The European Photonics Industry Consortium (EPIC) has announced that Oclaro Inc., an optical communications and lasers components, modules and subsystems provider, has joined its governing board.

Presided over by Dr. Drew Nelson of IQE, the board defines the principal direction of EPIC, which includes focus areas, strategy, resources and membership. Oclaro joins Aixtron, Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunication/Heinrich Hertz Institute, IQE and Sagem on the board.

A member of EPIC since 2004, Oclaro will be represented by Dr. Andy Carter, chief technology officer. He holds global responsibility for technology and reports to CEO Alain Couder. Before joining the company, Carter worked at Bookham, Marconi and Plessey.

EPIC promotes sustainable growth for photonics industries and R&D organizations across Europe through initiatives to build revenues, improve access to R&D resources, and development of timely market and technology information.
