Face Recognition Technology Chosen for Israeli Border

JERSEY CITY, N.J., Sept. 27 -- EDS and its consortium partners have won an Israeli Ministry of Defense contract to develop and install an automatic biometric border crossing system. The system, known as Basel, will automate the border crossing process for workers entering the country on a daily basis by employing Visionics' FaceIt face recognition as well as hand geometry biometric technology on a smart card platform.
The consortium that developed the border crossing system includes EDS (EDS Israel and EDS Access Control Solutions Division), Visionics Corp., On Track Innovations, Oberthur Smart Cards USA, Credentia, A DataCard Group Company, Recognition Systems Inc. and Team Computers.
