Microvision, Carl Zeiss Finalize Agreement

BOTHELL, Wash., Sept. 30 -- Microvision Inc. announced that it has signed a multi-year product development and licensing agreement with Carl Zeiss Inc. Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly develop a number of products using Microvision's patented retinal scanning display technology for commercialization in the surgical visualization and ophthalmic diagnostics markets.
Zeiss' Surgical Products Group plans to develop a series of display products incorporating Microvision technology to improve visualization for neurosurgery. The companies also announced that Zeiss would assist in funding ongoing development of a wearable display for neurosurgical navigation under a contract with the Wallace Kettering Neuroscience Center. In addition, Carl Zeiss and Microvision have initiated the development of ophthalmic diagnostic products to be marketed through Zeiss Humphrey Systems.
