Solyndra Eligible for BIPV Tariff

Solyndra International AG, which designs and manufactures cylindrical photovoltaic systems for large commercial rooftops, has announced that its 200 series is eligible for the French simplified building integrated solar photovoltaic (BIPV) tariff. This designation is based on its unique design and its synergy with rooftop construction.

The self-ballasted, nonattached systems meet with previous wind and fire standards and can withstand winds up to 208 km/h on slightly tilted rooftops. It is one of very few systems to be classified as Broof (t3).

Serving the French market from an office in Marseille, Solyndra has sold systems totaling more than 3.4 MW.

“We have several installations larger than one megawatt in France, and we expect this new tariff scheme will help our customers to further adopt solar power and lead to exciting further growth of France’s green energy market,” said EMEA president Clemens Jargon.

Solyndra International AG is a subsidiary of Solyndra LLC.
