Austrian Chipmaker Buys TAOS
Analog chipmaker austriamicrosystems AG will acquire Texas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions (TAOS) Inc. in a cash-and-stock deal worth approximately $320 million, TAOS announced Thursday.
The contract will bring together complementary leadership capabilities in the areas of analog mixed-signal design, power management, intelligent sensors and sensor interfaces that are critical core competencies for future generations of intelligent wireless and wired sensor platforms.
Subject to certain regulatory approvals and to specific conditions defined in the agreements, the transaction is expected to close within eight weeks.
TAOS is a worldwide supplier of light-sensing solutions for the consumer electronics, computer, industrial, medical and automotive markets.
