Growth Predicted for Pico Projectors

Front projector market information expert Pacific Media Associates (PMA) has reported that its first-quarter census of all front projectors indicated that worldwide shipments for the mobile, battery-powered types grew to 235,000 units, compared with 109,000 in the year-earlier quarter, an increase of 116%. The company believes that the industry is on track to grow at an average rate of 93% per year through 2015, reaching more than 17.2 million units. If the rate continues for the following five years, the 2020 shipment would be more than 460 million, it said. The figures include the stand-alone accessory products and the optical modules that are embedded in a range of battery-operated gadgets, including smartphones, digital cameras, camcorders, notebook computers and tablets.
