Volume Up for PIC-Based Modules
Based in San Jose, Calif., !%NeoPhotonics Corp.%!, a suppler of photonic integrated circuit (PIC)-based modules and subsystems for bandwidth-intensive, high-speed communications networks, has quadrupled its capacity to make PIC-based integrated coherent receivers (ICRs) for 40- and 100-Gb/s coherent fiber optic transport systems. By combining NeoPhotonics’ PIC-based ICR, which has a high signal detection response, with advanced digital signal processing on each channel, the coherent approach gives service providers a solution for leveraging their existing fiber optic cable investments longer, more efficiently and in an on-demand manner.
