Tessera Files Complaint

Miniaturization technologies provider Tessera Technologies Inc. of San Jose, Calif., announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Tessera Inc. has filed a complaint against Tokyo-based Sony Corp. alleging breach of contract and breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing. The company said that its breach of contract suit is distinct from the patent infringement suit Tessera Inc. brought against Sony Corp., Sony Electronics Inc. and Renesas Electronics Corp. in the US District Court of Delaware in October 2010. Tessera’s offerings in imaging and optics technology include camera functionality in electronics, such as zoom, extended depth of field and microelectromechanical systems-based autofocus.
