Optoelectronics Firm Makes Guinness Book of Records

Zweibrueder Optoelectronics recently unveiled the world’s biggest flashlight at “The Lichternacht,” a festival of lights celebration in Solingen, Germany. The 4-m-long (13.1 ft) flashlight, which features 19 high-power LED lights, made it into the Guinness Book of Records.

“This flashlight isn't just a high-performer; it came about thanks to high performance — 230 hours of work went into its production,” said Sven Objartel, managing director at Zweibrueder Optoelectronics.

The company said the lamp wasn't devised with just its size in mind. It also makes a strong statement for energy efficiency, consuming 1300 W of energy and having an LED life expectancy of 100,000 hours, which is equivalent to more than 11 years of uninterrupted illumination.
