Cubic Wins $19M for Laser-Based Troop Trainer
Cubic Defense Applications, the defense systems business unit of Cubic Corp., has won a $19 million competitive contract for the Instrumentable Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System Individual Weapons Systems (I-MILES IWS).
The contract was awarded by the US Army’s Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation. The award is for an upgraded Performance Specifications that the Army calls I-MILES IWS 2010. The initial order is for the base year of the contract, with four option years and a potential value of more than $200 million.
I-MILES IWS 2010 is the Army’s latest-generation tactical engagement simulation system. It uses laser emitters mounted on actual weapons and on-body sensors to realistically replicate combat and record it for later review.
Cubic Defense Systems provides realistic combat training systems, cyber technologies, asset tracking solutions and defense electronics.
