Oak's Lasertron to Expand Transmission Laser Capacity
WALTHAM, Mass., Nov. 1 -- Oak Industries Inc. will spend $10 million to expand manufacturing capacity for distributed feedback transmission lasers at its Lasertron Inc. division. Lasertron has finalized a long-term lease on a 30,000-square-foot facility, and expects to commence shipping products from this space during the first quarter of 2000. According to David Nislick, Lasertron's vice president of marketing, the expansion represents the company's response to increased demand for DFB transmission lasers in the rapidly growing metropolitan WDM systems market.
