Modulight Revenue up in 2011
Revenue for 2011 was up 10 percent over 2010 for laser manufacturer Modulight Inc., president and CEO Petteri Uusimaa reported in the company’s year-end newsletter.
Modulight attributed its growth to establishing business with new customers and generating business in new areas, including the development of OEM laser solutions for therapy and diagnostics applications. The work was further supported by the receipt of ISO 13485:2003 certification in October 2011, which Uusimaa said proved to its clients that its processes directly support medical equipment manufacturing without any compromises.
In December 2011, the company completed its first CE certification of a turnkey OEM laser therapy system, opening new medical laser business possibilities. Modulight also continued its business in laser projection and displays, started in 2009, and signed up to develop subsystem solutions for that segment. Both new divisions will complement the existing growing defense and industrial application businesses.
The laser company will begin the new year with a backlog of orders that is half of the 2011 revenue, a sign of improved business visibility, Uusimaa said.
