JDSU Acquires Dyaptive Systems

!%JDSU%! announced Thursday that it has acquired Dyaptive Systems of Vancouver, Canada, a provider of capacity test products for 2G, 3G and 4G wireless networks. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Dyaptive Systems provides subscriber emulation systems for wireless technologies, including emerging long-term evolution (LTE)/4G being deployed by service providers. Such systems support network capacity planning and quality performance by emulating thousands of mobile devices in high-bandwidth applications, such as streaming video. It is a high-growth segment of the communications test market, JDSU said, and generated revenue in the high single-digit millions during the past 12 months.

JDSU serves the communications market through its Communications Test and Measurement, Communications and Commercial Optical Products, and Advanced Optical Technologies segments. It plans to retain Dyaptive's approximately 40 employees as well as its offices in Vancouver, the company said.

"Dyaptive's portfolio complements JDSU's expansive set of wireless test tools, software and services, extending from the lab to the field and all the way to the end user experience," said David Heard, president of JDSU's Communications Test and Measurement business segment, adding that mobile service assurance is a key element of JDSU's growth strategy.
