Basler: 2011 Best Year in Company History

Digital camera manufacturer Basler AG reported an 8 percent increase in revenue for fiscal year 2011, making it the best year in the company’s history, it said.

Basler’s sales for fiscal year 2011 increased by 8 percent to €55.1 million (about $73.3 million) over €51 million for the previous year. The company’s gross profit margin also increased, from 43.5 to 44.3 percent, and its pretax earnings increased to €5.6 million over €5 million for the previous year.

The company also reported a 16 percent increase in cash flow, which it attributed to decreased average delivery times and shorter collection periods for receivables.

“Our new strategy alignment agreed upon three years ago with focus on the camera business continues to prove successful,” said Dr. Dietmar Ley, chairman of the management board.

Basler expects that its fiscal year 2012 will be stable with slight declining sales revenue. It predicts that its digital camera business will continue to increase compared with the previous year, whereas its solutions sales are weaker than in 2011 because of decreased demand from the LCD industry.

“In parallel to the expected improvement of the economic situation in the course of the year, we assume sales and pre-tax results in the second half-year to be above the figures of the first six months and then to show again the level of return reached in 2011,” Ley said.
