Illumitex Secures $9M in Funding, Hires New CEO
LED maker Illumitex Inc. has secured an additional $9.3 million in funding to develop its lighting fixture product lines and to provide ongoing support for the development of proprietary precision beam packaged LEDs, the company announced.
Existing investors participating in the funding round include NEA, Morgan Creek Capital, Mousse Partners, Apex Venture Partners, DFJ Mercury and Syngenta Ventures.
Illumitex also announced its hiring of Chris Hammelef as chief executive officer, effective April 16. Hammelef is the former vice president and general manager of outdoor lighting company Hadco Group, a division of Philips.
Having produced precision beam LEDs since 2008, Illumitex will now shift its focus to lighting fixtures as its main product offering.
