Schmitt Wins Pratt & Whitney Laser Measurement Order
PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 3 -- Schmitt Industries has been awarded a $600,000 contract by Pratt & Whitney for an advanced laser light scatter device, the TASC scatterometer. The device uses laser light to conduct non-destructive measurements of different types of materials. This is the third contract that Schmitt has secured recently from major defense contractors or the federal government; on October 8, the company announced that it had won a contract valued at $400,000.
Schmitt Industries designs, assembles, markets and distributes devices for measuring vibration, surface roughness and dimensional sizing. The company's two product segments are systems that automatically balance rotating objects in industrial settings, and laser measurement systems that measure the surface roughness and dimensions of a wide range of materials in a non-destructive fashion.
