Fiber Comm Veteran Named Firecomms CEO

Fiber communications veteran Hsin Chia was named chief executive officer of fiber optic components development company Firecomms.

Chia’s industry knowledge and experience will help him to drive the company’s strategic expansion in its focus markets, the company said.

“Since its foundation, Firecomms has opened new markets and developed highly innovative products for plastic optical fiber,” Chia said. “As the company’s successful development of the home networking market has been very impressive, I am immensely excited to lead this talented team as we continue to expand and build on this momentum.”

He will focus his immediate efforts on China, where the company recently expanded its business. He also plans to accelerate the release of new products currently in the pipeline, including the company’s recently announced Gigabit transceiver for coupling into plastic optical fiber and large-core silica fibers.

Prior to joining the company, he worked at Globalfoundries, Avago Technologies Inc. and Agilent Inc.
