Synopsys Acquires RSoft

Electronic design automation company !%Synopsys Inc.%! of Mountain View, Calif., has acquired the privately held RSoft Design Group Inc. of Ossining, N.Y., a photonics design and simulation software provider. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition will combine Synopsys’ imaging and illumination design products with RSoft’s photonics design products to provide a more complete set of optical solutions to the companies’ current customers and to support new technologies, applications and markets as they emerge. RSoft’s software is used to design and optimize optical telecommunications components and to simulate complete telecommunications systems and networks.
