IPG Adds Turkish Operations

IPG Photonics Corp. announced today that it has opened a new office in Istanbul to provide local support and services for its fiber lasers in Turkey and nearby countries.

The new facility — whose official name is IPG Photonics Eurasia Lazer Ürünleri Satis ve Servis Hizmetleri Ltd. Sirketi — includes trained sales, support, technical and administrative staff. Kubilay Yildirim, the country manager of IPG Eurasia, is directing operations of the Turkish office, which is now conducting business.

Since the recent global financial recession, Turkey has stood out as having one of the few growing economies in Europe, expanding by 9.2 percent in 2010 and by 8.5 percent in 2011. Its economic diversity includes strong manufacturing, especially in automobiles and consumer durables. It is now the 16th largest economy in the world and the fifth largest when compared with other European Union countries, according to gross domestic product figures in 2011.

“In a short time, we developed numerous cutting OEMs in Turkey which use our high-performance fiber lasers,” said Dr. Valentin Gapontsev, CEO of IPG Photonics. “Our continued success there merits a local sales and service presence in Turkey. We are excited about the opportunities in the Turkish market and nearby as well as participating in the growth that Turkey is experiencing.”
