NanoZoomer-XR

Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. has released the NanoZoomer-XR for whole-slide scanning. It minimizes workload and slide scanning time by automatically, continuously and rapidly scanning up to 320 slides. It converts a 15 × 15-mm area on a glass slide into a 1.1-gigapixel color image in 30 s. The scanned slides are viewed quickly through the NDP.view2 software, and are easily analyzed using the NDP.analyze IHC software.

The scanner features blur- and error-free scanning, maintains a sharp focus on the specimen, and produces clear images, thanks to proprietary and patent-pending Dynamic Pre-Focusing technology. It frees the user from time-consuming manual quality checks, immediately evaluates the quality of a scanned image, and automatically rescans a slide as needed.

Users load the slides and click on the “start batch” button on the software, and the slides are automatically scanned. Features include a scanning profile function that can be set up for various sample types and multiple users, and viewer software to quickly view slides.

The autocalibration feature automatically and periodically conducts routine calibrations of light intensity, white balance and shading.

The NanoZoomer-XR can scan slides including HE-stained and cytology samples. It features true multi-Z-level acquisition for improved viewing of thick specimens.
