Olympus Licenses Pathology Patents to Zeiss
!%Olympus America Inc.%! of Center Valley, Pa., and !%16323%%Carl Zeiss Microscopy GmbH%! of Jena, Germany, have signed a nonexclusive worldwide licensing agreement allowing the German company to access Olympus’ portfolio of digital pathology and virtual microscopy patents. The patents in the licensing deal cover methods and equipment for creating, storing and delivering virtual microscopy slides. The technology enables individuals to view and share high-resolution virtual microscopy images over the Internet. Specific terms and conditions of the agreement will not be made public. The microscopy business group at Carl Zeiss manufactures light and electron microscopes for the life and materials sciences.
