Heinemann Named CTO at DirectPhotonics

Dr. Stefan Heinemann has been appointed chief technology officer at diode laser maker DirectPhotonics Industries GmbH.

Heinemann will lead ongoing development and advancement of DirectPhotonics’ patented ultrahigh-brightness direct diode laser technology.

He brings to the company more than 20 years of engineering and R&D experience, including more than 14 years as director of Fraunhofer USA’s Center for Laser Technology (CLT) of Plymouth, Mich. During that time he established a program in conjunction with the University of Michigan in the field of clean transportation, including research on high-energy batteries and advanced supercapacitors. He also has held numerous senior engineering and R&D management positions, including at Jenoptik.
