Navitar Fills Positions at Special Optics
Precision optics and imaging system components maker Navitar announced Wednesday that it has filled several positions at its Special Optics division, naming David Manzi as chief technology officer, Steven Morales as general manager and Thomas Young as controller.
As CTO, Manzi, formerly Special Optics' president and CEO, will be responsible for managing the development of new products, directing corporate business strategy and identifying new market focus areas, Navitar said. Manzi, who has more than two decades of experience at Special Optics, holds a bachelor of science in physics from the Pennsylvania State University.
Morales, who has worked at Special Optics for more than 14 years, was promoted from sales manager to general manager. He holds a degree in applied information technology from Pace University and is currently pursuing further education in engineering science and computer science, the company said.
As controller, Young replaces Matthew Thomas, who retired in July. He comes to Special Optics with more than 20 years of diversified accounting experience.
"We're very excited to have David and Steven in their new roles and feel Tom will be a great asset to the company," said Thomas McCune, Navitar's chief operating officer. "Special Optics is a vital part of Navitar, and all three men will contribute to the division's growth and development."
All three will be based at the division's Wharton office.
Special Optics makes high-performance optical systems, including femtosecond laser beam management optics for lasik and laser cataract eye surgery, laser optics for DNA sequencing, and imaging objectives for medical and life science applications.
