CyberOptics Sells Assets of Industrial Measurement Product Line
MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 2 -- CyberOptics Corp. has agreed to sell the assets and license the software of its CyberScan Cobra industrial metrology product line to Optical Gaging Products, Inc. of Rochester, N.Y. The companies have also agreed that CyberOptics will become the exclusive supplier of all laser triangulation sensors for use in Cobra and Optical Gaging's line of general-purpose metrology measurement products. CyberOptics' CyberScan Cobra is a portable laser inspection system used to perform two-dimensional and three-dimensional high-resolution surface profiling. Terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
CyberOptics said it would merge its laser triangulation sensor operations into its SMT/OEM Sensor business unit beginning in 2000. The company will continue to offer its high-end industrial measurement product, the CyberScan Vantage system, to its customers in the electronics industry. CyberOptics noted that revenue from general industrial measurement products accounted for less than five percent of its consolidated sales during the first nine months of 1999.
