Flir Acquires Video Detector Maker
Flir Systems Inc. has acquired the stock of Traficon International NV, a video detection technologies maker, for approximately $46 million in cash.
Traficon of Wevelgem, Belgium, manufactures video image processing software and hardware for traffic analysis. The company’s intelligent technology makes traffic safer and more efficient through solutions for detecting incidents automatically, collecting traffic data, and monitoring the presence of vehicles and pedestrians at intersections.
“This acquisition will accelerate the adoption of Flir technology in the expanding worldwide market for video-based traffic control solutions as we utilize Traficon’s strong distribution network,” said Flir President and CEO Earl Lewis. Traficon’s video analytics capabilities will be integrated into additional Flir imaging lines for enhanced functionality and new application development, he said.
The sensor systems manufacturer anticipates that this transaction will be neutral to 2013 net earnings and accretive thereafter.
