Olympus Returns to Direct Sales in 7 States
Olympus America Inc. will begin selling directly in seven heartland states after the retirement of top executives from Hitschfel Instruments Inc., an Olympus authorized dealer in the region for 23 years. The changeover will become effective Feb. 1.
Sales, service and training functions are already being transitioned to Olympus to ensure a seamless process. Most Olympus microscope users in the region — central and southern Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and metropolitan Memphis, Tenn. — will not notice overt changes, as they will be served by the same sales representatives, who will become Olympus employees.
At the time of the changeover, Olympus plans to honor any committed orders from Hitschfel’s customers for Olympus equipment.
Olympus’ biomedical and industrial microscopes are used in neuroscience, cell biology and other high-end research applications.
