JDSU announced Thursday two executive appointments, naming Susan Spradley as senior vice president and general manager of the Communications Test and Measurement (CommTest) business segment, and Rex Jackson as the company’s executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Spradley, with more than 20 years of telecommunications industry experience, will be responsible for the development and management of the CommTest business segment’s communications test product portfolio, which includes instruments, probes, software applications and service assurance solutions. She will report to CommTest President David Heard.

Prior to joining the company, she served in executive positions at Nokia Siemens Networks and Nortel. She was also appointed by the President to serve on the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee and is chair of a White House and National Science Foundation initiative, called US Ignite, to promote US leadership in developing applications and services for broadband and software-defined networks.

Jackson, who has served as acting CFO since September 2012, will report to President and CEO Tom Waechter in his new position. He has been with JDSU for two years as its senior vice president of Business Services, with responsibility for several corporate functions, including Information Technology. Prior to joining the company, he was executive vice president and CFO at Symyx Technologies. Before that he was the acting CFO at Synopsys and has held executive positions with Avago, AdForce and Read-Rite.
