Avantes, Tornado Spectral Systems Partner on Spectroscopy
Avantes BV and Tornado Spectral Systems have partnered to develop, manufacture and distribute a new line of next-generation spectrometers.
Under the terms of the agreement, Tornado will use proprietary high-throughput virtual slit (HTVS) technology to design a series of spectrometers, which will be manufactured and distributed by Avantes and its partners.
HTVS technology enables spectrometers to overcome traditional trade-off between sensitivity and resolution. The company says that it features order(s) of magnitude gain in light throughput with virtually no compromise in resolution, providing a compact spectroscopy solution at a lower cost than traditional systems.
Tornado’s HTVS spectrometer technology was selected as a 2013 Prism Award finalist. (See:

Avantes aims to showcase the first spectrometer product based on Tornado’s HTVS technology at Pittcon 2013.
