poLight Appoints New Board Chairman

Veteran telecom executive Keith Cornell will take poLight to the next level as its new chairman of the board, the micro-optic autofocus components company announced Monday.

Cornell joins poLight following the recent sale to Samsung of Nanoradio, a Swedish Wi-Fi semiconductor company, where he managed the process of selling an innovative wireless chip developer. He has more than 20 years of executive management, sales and marketing development experience in the international wireless, telecom, technology and software industries.

Previously, he served as international senior vice president at Clearwire, director at Mobicomp (sold to Microsoft), chairman of End2End (sold to MACH) and chairman of Digital Rum. He also was CEO of Empower Interactive and served on the management teams of several mobile operators, including O2; at German mobile phone operator Viag Interkom, he was interim CEO.

Before joining O2, Cornell held the positions of vice president of international operations for AirTouch and director of southern Europe for Vodafone. There, he was a board director of Omnitel (Italy), MobiFon (Romania), Europolitan (Sweden) and Airtel (Spain). Earlier in his career, he worked with management consultant Marakon Associates.

“poLight faces extremely good prospects, and Keith’s leadership of the board will assist us in achieving our aggressive growth plan,” said CEO Christian Dupont. The company’s objective since 2011 has been to lead the mobile phone camera module market with the world’s smallest and most cost-efficient autofocus lens.
