Corning to Acquire Honeywell's Optical Polymer Group

CORNING, N.Y., Dec. 22 -- Corning Inc. has acquired the Optical Polymer Group of Honeywell, which merged with Allied Signal on Dec 1, 1999. Corning expects the acquisition to expand its technology base in optical components. The terms of the purchase were not reported.
As part of the transaction, Corning will acquire all of Honeywell's equipment for making polymeric optical waveguide devices, as well as the related intellectual property. In addition, the members of Honeywell's -- formerly Allied Signal's -- scientific staff that developed these materials and devices will join Corning.
