OneChip Photonics of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, has hired Jonathan Boocock as vice president of product development. He will lead efforts to extend OneChip’s photonic integrated circuit-based passive optical network transceivers and bidirectional optical subassemblies into the next-generation data center interconnect market. He was most recently executive vice president of engineering at BTI Systems Inc.






Precision optical solutions company REO of Boulder, Colo., has named Ed Yousse as its vice president of sales and marketing. Yousse, previously the company’s national sales manager and director of sales, has had more than 15 years of sales management experience, including senior management positions at Oerlikon Optics (formerly Unaxis Optics) and Balzers Thin Films.







Trumpf Inc. of Farmington, Conn., has appointed Christopher Gildehaus as its Northwest direct sales representative. He will be responsible for machine and power tool sales activity in northern California and Nevada. Before joining Trumpf, he worked in financial brokerage services.







Jenoptik’s Lasers and Material Processing Div. of Jena, Germany, has selected Michael Fichtner as its new head of sales for its Lasers business unit. Fichtner gained sales and product management experience at companies such as Oclaro, PerkinElmer Optoelectronics and Intense (formerly HPD). Applied solutions company Idex Corp. of Lake Forest, Ill., has appointed David Parry to its board of directors. Parry is vice chairman of Illinois Tool Works Inc. and is responsible for strategic sourcing and innovation for the company’s welding, construction, food equipment and consumer packaging businesses, and for its technology center.





James N. Chapman has been named senior vice president of sales and marketing at DigitalOptics Corp. of San Jose, Calif., a subsidiary of Tessera Technologies Inc. His responsibilities will include establishing advanced microelectromechanical systems autofocus technology in the mobile phone market. Chapman previously was president and CEO of NuCore Technology Inc., which was sold to MediaTek Inc. in 2007.
