Saudi Arabia Orders Dazer Lasers
Saudi Arabia has placed an order for Laser Energetics Inc.’s Dazer Laser Guardian and accessories, marking the company’s 15th international order for the device.
The nonlethal, less-violent system, when shone in the face of a perceived aggressor, temporarily blinds the person, impairs balance and induces motion sickness that lasts for several hours, making it difficult to move, according to company publications. Laser Energetics received its first order for the device in September 2012 from an undisclosed distributor in India. (See:

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia tested multiple optical distractor systems before selecting the Dazer Laser Guardian. The country’s first order will be to integrate the device into the Special Forces and to train Saudi Forces on operation and use, which will be followed by larger orders for full-scale military and government use.
The laser is the only optical distractor that incorporates LEI’s patent-pending variable range and focus optics technology, which allows operators to both safely and effectively engage the threat at ranges from 1 to 1000 m and beyond.
