Spectaris Names New Head of Photonics Association
Lasers and optics industry veteran Dr. Wenko Süptitz has been named head of Photonics and Precision Technology, the trade association of Spectaris, the German industry association for optical, medical and mechatronic technologies, the organization announced this week.
Süptitz succeeds Birgit Ladwig, who led the association for four years and who will now focus on the trade association Analytical, Bio and Laboratory Technology, which represents more than 60 devices, equipment, consumables and accessories manufacturers.
Photonics and Precision Technology includes 94 optics manufacturers. It is one of four trade associations — including Consumer Optics, Medical Technology, and Analytical, Bio and Laboratory Technology — that collectively represent more than 400 member companies in Germany as Spectaris.
Süptitz has a PhD in physics and more than 15 years of experience marketing optical components, lasers and optics equipment for several German companies.
“I look forward to the new challenge, in which I will be bringing the perspective of the member companies and new and future members of the photonics industry,” Süptitz said. He will also expand the association’s activities into the areas of lighting, semiconductors, production technology and security and defense, as well as develop new business.
